Marquette, MI –March 31, 2018 – Join us for the 25th Annual U.P. Boat, Sport & RV Show! As the largest indoor display of recreational products in Northern Michigan, the show will be taking over the Northern Michigan University Superior Dome for another year.
Just ten days away, show will fill the 100,000 square foot display area in the dome with vendors and businesses from all across the region. The show offers a large variety of recreational equipment. For the water lovers, find the latest in boats, docks, canoes, kayaks, jet skis, and more! Interested in a new ATV, dirt bike, or motorcycle? The show has that too! Even camping supplies, RVs, and climbing gear can be found at this massive Upper Peninsula outdoor recreation expo.
The weekend long show runs from April 6-8th with free parking at the Dome. Bring the whole family and check out vendor booths and the live trout pond for the kids! Don’t forget to visit us at the Great Lakes Radio booth too! We’ll be there all weekend long and even broadcasting live from the show! Our sister station’s Luke Ghiardi and Adam Carpenter will be doing their radio shows live from the Dome on Friday. Luke will back again on Saturday along with Eric Scott to broadcast live Saturday too.
We opened doors around 6:30pm to let the evening of fun begin. Nancy and Amy covered the welcome table working hard to get everyone through the line quickly. Once settled in, our emcees for the night, Walt Lindala and Adam Carpenter took the mics. Welcoming everyone to another great giveaway party, the guys thanked all of the evening’s sponsors. With introductions out of the way we moved to giving out some door prizes. Our Sponsors provided great door prizes like Hudson’s Classic Grill certificates and camo Cub Cadet ball caps from Four Seasons Small Engine. The audience couldn’t get enough of the door prizes – who doesn’t like free stuff, right?
Thanks to all of our sponsors for supporting this event and giving us some awesome door prizes to giveaway.
With the quota for free prizes given out, it was time to fill up those bellies. Breaking for dinner, Ryan Ranguette released tables for a delicious dinner from Mama Russo’s. Guests chowed down on cudighi bites, lasagna, and famous homemade salads served by the local catering company. In between bites we handed out the last of the door prizes including WRUP 98.3 t-shirts and go bags from Biolife.
While the party is about having a good time and hanging out with friends, it was time to get to the real reason we were all there. Walt Lindala and Mike Plourde stepped up to the mic to drawn our seven finalists. Drawing the suspense just a little longer, Major Discount took over to thank our sponsors one more time and people of the community for coming out tonight. Number by number cheers broken out from the crowd with each number read. Each finalist moved to the front of the room to select their station envelope. Once all the finalists were ready, Major Discount delivered the countdown signaling our winners to tear open the envelopes all at once.
Dennis Sippola opened his enveloped to find that he would be one with a brand new storage building! While there can only be one major prize winner, none of our finalist walked away empty handed. Liz Hangas received a $100 gift basket from Super One Foods with Mary Whales receiving another. Kevin Stank won a brand new socket wrench kit from Advance Auto Parts from. Brett Nance and Allison Coss went home with Gold Star Service Contracts from Swick Home Services with our last winner leaving with a STIHL leaf blower from Four Seasons.
Another great giveaway with our winner Dennis Sippola.
Negaunee, MI — July 9, 2016 — Today, Iron Street in Negaunee was packed with people enjoying the Pioneer Days Parade! There were no shortages of floats, marching groups and exciting sounds in this event. Today was my first Pioneer Days Parade, and now I can’t wait for next year. All of the pride and hard work shown by all of the groups, as well as the excitement and smiles seen from the crowd, made this parade a great addition to the Pioneer Days celebration!
We at Great Lakes Radio were also very glad to be a part of all the excitement! Walt and Mike from the Sunny Morning Show started our line up in the flashy Sunny.fm van and behind them was Joe Duckworth manning the WRUP van. Following behind the WRUP van was Adam Carpenter from the Outdoor Show with Todd Noordyk as co-captain in a camouflage Kawasaki Mule from Zambon’s in Marquette. Completing our crew was Eric Scott and Lane Dawson in the 103 FXD box truck!
One of my favorite floats was the MCMCF Wizard of Oz Rainbow Float. The Negaunee High
MCMCF Wizard of Oz Rainbow Float
School Class Reunion floats were other parade favorites.
There was also a picnic at Teal Lake following the parade!
The cost of the Pioneer Days celebration is pretty high, and the Negaunee Irontown Association can always use more help and support to make the Pioneer Days celebration just as great as, if not better than, it has been all these years.
