Dennis Sippola from Ishpeming will be having a brand new shed built right on his property complete with all of the standard Premium fixings!

We opened doors around 6:30pm to let the evening of fun begin. Nancy and Amy covered the welcome table working hard to get everyone through the line quickly. Once settled in, our emcees for the night, Walt Lindala and Adam Carpenter took the mics. Welcoming everyone to another great giveaway party, the guys thanked all of the evening’s sponsors. With introductions out of the way we moved to giving out some door prizes. Our Sponsors provided great door prizes like Hudson’s Classic Grill certificates and camo Cub Cadet ball caps from Four Seasons Small Engine. The audience couldn’t get enough of the door prizes – who doesn’t like free stuff, right?

With the quota for free prizes given out, it was time to fill up those bellies. Breaking for dinner, Ryan Ranguette released tables for a delicious dinner from Mama Russo’s. Guests chowed down on cudighi bites, lasagna, and famous homemade salads served by the local catering company. In between bites we handed out the last of the door prizes including WRUP 98.3 t-shirts and go bags from Biolife.

While the party is about having a good time and hanging out with friends, it was time to get to the real reason we were all there. Walt Lindala and Mike Plourde stepped up to the mic to drawn our seven finalists. Drawing the suspense just a little longer, Major Discount took over to thank our sponsors one more time and people of the community for coming out tonight. Number by number cheers broken out from the crowd with each number read. Each finalist moved to the front of the room to select their station envelope. Once all the finalists were ready, Major Discount delivered the countdown signaling our winners to tear open the envelopes all at once.

Congratulations to Robbie Jo Fezatt for Winning the Heating Up Winter Giveaway! Fri, 07 Apr 2017 05:08:57 +0000 Ishpeming, MIApril 7, 2017 – It was a fun night at River Rock Lanes and Banquet Center in Ishpeming for our
      Heating Up Winter
giveaway party! The new year is off to a great start after our first giveaway party of the year!

We here at Great Lakes Radio teamed up with Swick Home Services and Superior Stoves and Fireplaces to give one lucky winner a brand new wood stove package. The wood stove package features the newest in wood burning technology, Regency’s triple burn system. After a great night, we congratulate Robbie Jo Fezatt on being the lucky winner of the wood stove package!

The party got off to a great start when we welcomed all of our guests into the hall. A big thanks to Nancy and Joe for getting everyone in quickly and keeping the registration line moving.

Heading on into the party

Once we got everyone settled in, Walt Lindala and Adam Carpenter took the mics to be the emcees for the night. They started by thanking everyone for coming and introducing our sponsors for the evening. After the introductions, it was time for door prizes! The whole crew was working quickly handing out door prizes left and right as numbers were being called. Our sponsors provided some really great things including hats and gloves from Four Seasons, gift certificates from Tadych’s Econo Foods, and gold star packages from Swick Home Services.

After handing out door prizes, we announced it was time for the best part… the food! Eric had the honor of releasing tables for dinner. Mama Russo’s wonderful staff was serving up a great meal of lasagna, cudighi bites, and homemade salads! While everyone was eating the tremendous food and chasing it with drinks presented by River Rock Lanes, we explained our game for the night.

We played some toilet BOWL-ing for free bowling! We set up two toilets provided by Swick Home Services, and set a plunger on the top of each toilet. Each person that received an invite to the party got a chance to toss a roll of toilet paper into the bowl for a free game of bowling presented by River Rock Lanes. Then they also had a chance to toss a disc and if they got a ringer on the plunger, they won a free pizza!

Just short!

After toilet bowling finished up, it was time for the main event, the drawing of our finalists. With Luke N picking out numbers at random, he called out the six different ticket numbers. Each finalist came up to the front and made their choice of station envelope. Each envelope had a sheet with a major prize, but only one could take home the grand prize! The finalists opened their envelopes together while the room was full of anticipation.

Robbie Jo Fezatt opened her envelope to see that she won the new wood stove package and she couldn’t believe it! The other finalists won prizes such as a truck bed tool box from Advance Auto Parts Marquette, gift baskets from Super One Foods, a certficate for a tire alignment and oil change from Pomp’s Tire, a car wash bucket from Auto Value of West Ishpeming, and a string trimmer from Four Seasons Small Engine.

Thanks to our sponsors Swick Home Services, River Rock Lanes & Banquet Center, Hudson’s Classic Grill, Four Seasons Small Engine and Mama Russo’s.

The biggest event of the year for Mill Creek, their Christmas party, saw about 250 people in the Mill Creek Commons area to celebrate Christmas together. Guests enjoyed the big cake, delicious Christmas cookies and hors d’ouevres from the large buffet table.

Throughout the year, Mill Creek residents participate in a “Caught Caring” program. Every month residents nominate a staff member and then the employee who is caught caring the most throughout the year wins a special “Caught Caring” award, which was given out during the party!

Everyone loved the photo booth and had a lot of fun posing with props for pictures. The band Playing Jacks played Christmas music for everyone and when Santa Claus came, he brought presents for all of the residents.

Residents at Mill Creek enjoy a variety of social events and the highly trained staff focuses on helping residents remain as independent and active as possible. Pioneer Days Parade is a Big Hit in Negaunee! Sat, 09 Jul 2016 19:52:26 +0000 Negaunee, MI July 9, 2016 — Today,  Iron Street in Negaunee was packed with people enjoying the Pioneer Days Parade! There were no shortages of floats, marching groups and exciting sounds in this event. Today was my first Pioneer Days Parade, and now I can’t wait for next year. All of the pride and hard work shown by all of the groups, as well as the excitement and smiles seen from the crowd, made this parade a great addition to the Pioneer Days celebration!

We at Great Lakes Radio were also very glad to be a part of all the excitement! Walt and Mike from the Sunny Morning Show started our line up in the flashy van and behind them was Joe Duckworth manning the WRUP van. Following behind the WRUP van was Adam Carpenter from the Outdoor Show with Todd Noordyk as co-captain in a camouflage Kawasaki Mule from Zambon’s in Marquette. Completing our crew was Eric Scott and Lane Dawson in the 103 FXD box truck!

One of my favorite floats was the MCMCF Wizard of Oz Rainbow Float. The Negaunee High

MCMCF Wizard of Oz Rainbow Float

School Class Reunion floats were other parade favorites.

There was also a picnic at Teal Lake following the parade!

The cost of the Pioneer Days celebration is pretty high, and the Negaunee Irontown Association can always use more help and support to make the Pioneer Days celebration just as great as, if not better than, it has been all these years. If you would like to lend a helping hand or donate to the Pioneer Days or the Fireworks on Teal Lake for next year, take a look at this information:

There was a all-around great showing of floats and groups on this warm and wonderful Independence Day. The Marquette High School Class of 1971 float especially eye-catching with their VW Van structure and ’70s throwback decorations. Another parade favorite was the veteran and military groups who were well represented and respected throughout the parade.
