GOOD TIME OLDIES

Our DJ's bring you the golden era of pop, rock, and soul: hit music of the '60s and '70s.

  • BRUCE PALMER

    IN THE MORNING

    6am-2pm EST
Listen to Bruce Palmer in the mornings from 5a-1p on 97.5 GTO! Bruce has over 30 years in the radio business starting in suburban Philadelphia. Now with a personal music collection of more than 60,000 tunes, a garage packed with a dozen antique cars, and loving radio more than ever, he’s living the dream. When Bruce’s not on the air, he’s probably playing with his dogs & cats, sitting back to take in a baseball game, spending time with his wife and two daughters, or most likely, out in the garage under a hood. You see, he really is radio’s original “car guy.”

  • CHEREE CARTER

    AFTERNOON/EVENINGS

    2pm-10pm EST
Cheree started her radio career in the sunshine state of Florida 15 years ago. Since then she has graced the airwaves coast-to-coast and in between. Cheree also has enjoyed figure skating on-and-off competitively all her life, and she owns two horses that she rides & shows in competitions in English Pleasure and jumping. She’s a die-hard NFL fan, one of the biggest animal enthusiasts, and loves all kinds of music. Cheree’s also known as “Super Aunt” with two nieces that are simply beautiful inside-and-out.

  • RIC GIBSON

    OVERNIGHTS

    10pm-6am EST
Ric has been in radio for 38 years. He started his music “education” by singing do-wop on the street corners of Brooklyn in the early 60’s. He furthered his “education” as he worked for one of the largest record stores in New York City witnessing one of the greatest eras in music, the 60’s. He later started his own band and got signed to Mercury records. These days he’s married and has one son who seems to be taking up where Ric left off as a music major and multi-instrumentalist. Ric also owns a recording business where, at times, he and his son frequently hang out and jam. Aside from radio and music, Ric and his wife also trained in the art of Shaolin-Kempo Karate. Both are martial arts instructors and they both hold the rank of Black Belt.

Marquette, MI – June 16, 2018 – Marquette Township’s “Catch the Vision” Car Show and Cruise took over the Westwood Mall parking lot near Appleebee’s for year nine of the community car show. Township folk walked down each aisle to see all the classic cars, win some prizes, and have a great time.  Major Discount was on the scene to tell you about all the excitement.

Listeners heard from numerous guests over the year while tuned into GTO 97.5! Everyone was eager to tell listeners about the day’s events. Today’s Car Show started around 11am as the Westwood Mall parking lot filled up with classic and modern vehicles. This year saw the return of a fan favorite, “Rev it Up”.  All of the participants let loose and floored their gas pedals!  The owner of the vehicle with the best “scream” won one of the numerous prizes that were given away during the afternoon.

Following “Rev It Up”, Mike from Crossroads Truck Repair set up his large wrecker as an anchor for vehicles during “The Burn Out”. One by one vehicles rolling into the spot and chained up their vehicles to the wrecker. Putting the pedal to the floor, each contestant, including the station’s own WRUP Van, spun their tires and let the smoke fill the air! Everyone had an impressive display but only one could be the winner of 2 brand new tires from Pomp’s Tire!
