The third Monday of January every year is the day we use to remember the legendary activist, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A man with righteous intention to do good. MLK was born into a lineage of preachers. He gained his credibility through hard work and education at Morehouse College at the age of 15, Crozer Theological Seminary, and onto Boston University to earn his doctorate in 1955.
1955 is the same year that Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the local transit to a white patron. After that incident, fellow activists decided to form the Montgomery Improvement Association. They chose Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as the head of the organization. This was just the beginning of the civil rights activism that caused MLK to go down in history. That led him to deliver his famous speech about his vision for the future on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963.
Today, let us remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and refresh ourselves on the importance of his virtues. Virtues like courage, patience, wisdom, and justice.
